The Umayyad dynasty played a prominent and profound role in fundamentally altering the concept and function of the Caliphate. This descriptive-analytical study, based on library research, seeks to answer the question: What was the nature and impact of the Umayyads’ agency in altering and deviating the concept of the Caliphate? Findings indicate that the Umayyads’ intervention led to a fundamental transformation both in the meaning and structure of the Caliphate, with far-reaching implications for the broader intellectual and political orientation of the Muslim community. The dimensions and consequences of this transformation can be seen in the prioritization of kingship over prophethood, the emergence of autocracy, the adoption of Persian and Roman models of monarchy, secularization, hereditary rule, and the propagation of the doctrine of obedience to unjust rulers and the illegitimacy of rebellion against them. یکی از انحرافاتی که در عهد امویان رواج پیدا کرد، انحرافی بود که در جریان خلافت به ‌وجود آمد. نقش بنی‌امیه در تحول بنیادین در مفهوم و کارکرد خلافت، نقشی پررنگ و عمیق به ‌نظر می‌رسد. این تحقیق که به‌شیوة توصیفی و تحلیلی و با استفاده از منابع کتابخانه‌ای نگاشته شده، به ‌دنبال یافتن پاسخ به این پرسش است که کنشگری بنی‌امیه در تغییر و تبدیل مفهوم خلافت و به ‌انحراف کشیدن این مقوله چه بوده است و چگونه تحلیل می‌شود؟ یافته‌های تحقیق نشان می‌دهد که کنشگری بنی‌امیه در تغییر و تبدیل مفهوم خلافت، به تغییر بنیادین، هم در مفهوم و هم در ساختار آن منجر شد و نتایج آن نیز در رویکرد کلان فکری و سیاسی جامعه هویدا شد. مؤلفه‌ها و بازخوردهای این تغییر و تحول را می‌توان در برتری‌بخشی به خلافت نسبت ‌به نبوت، استبدادی شدن حکومت، کسرایی و قیصری شدن حکومت، سکولاری شدن حکومت، موروثی شدن حکومت، و ترویج نظریة اطاعت از حاکم جور و عدم جواز قیام برضد او جست‌وجو کرد. https://siyasi.nashriyat.ir/sites/siyasi.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/5001570-1752299988.pdf
