    Abstract:
Having investigated the reaction of thinkers to political issue in the two periods of the Constitution and the Islamic Revolution, some writers have concluded that in the period of the Islamic Revolution, political theories have mainly taken an authoritarian stance. Using content analysis, this article investigates the validity of this claim with regard to one of the thinkers of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatullah Muhammad Taqi Misbah Yazdi. According to the authoritarian reading, the political thought of Ayatullah Misbah Yazdi is in the category of authoritarian ideas due to its "superiority" foundation as well as the components of "abolition of allegiance", "needlessness of consultation" and "extensive powers of government". The research results show that the principles and components of authoritarianism are incompatible of with the political thought of Ayatullah Misbah Yazdi
