    Abstract:
In the social thought of Islam, there is a central question: how is moral order formed, and which institution is capable of organizing and safeguarding it at the collective level? Previous studies have mostly focused on the political-jurisprudential analysis of the clergy or the rhetorical representation of ethics; hence, the institutional and functional mechanisms of ethics in Shahīd Bihishtī's intellectual system-especially its relationship with social engineering-remain ambiguous. Aiming to reconstruct these mechanisms, this research employs a qualitative-interpretive approach and directed content analysis. The theoretical framework is based on three levels: philosophical-ontological, sociological, and functional-systemic. To measure the functional distinction of ethical components within Shahīd Bihishtī's guidance logic, the Semantic Differential model (Osgood) is utilized. The findings indicate that, in Shahīd Bihishtī's view, the clergy serve as a "living mechanism of moral making" which, through practical role-modeling, normative regulation, and the reproduction of symbolic capital, provides the groundwork for monotheistic social engineering and the sustainability of an exemplary Islamic society.
